The Langtang Valley Trek is one of Nepal’s most scenic and culturally enriching Himalayan adventures, offering breathtaking mountain views, peaceful forests, and authentic Tamang heritage just a few hours from Kathmandu. Nestled within Langtang National Park, the trail winds through rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, traditional villages, and glacial valleys before reaching the picturesque Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m), surrounded by the majestic peaks of Langtang Lirung and the Langtang Himal range.

Our standard 11-day itinerary is carefully designed to provide the ideal balance of adventure, acclimatization, and cultural exploration. However, every traveler has different preferences, so the Langtang Valley Trek can be fully customized to suit your schedule, fitness level, and travel goals. Whether you’re looking for a shorter trek or wish to include additional side hikes such as Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri, we’ll tailor the perfect Himalayan experience for you.

FAQs

No guide is strictly required for independent trekkers, but hiring a government-licensed guide is recommended for safety, local insight, and permit handling.

             You need:

  • Langtang National Park Permit
  • TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) Card
These allow entry to the protected areas, and a guide or trekking agency can arrange them for you.

Permit fees vary by season, but the combined cost is typically around USD 40-50 per person for the trek.

The trek is moderate, with walking times of 4-7 hours per day. Some sections are steep, and the highest point, Kyanjin Ri (3,870 m), requires good fitness and acclimatization. No professional mountaineering skills are needed.

Best seasons are spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) for clear skies, pleasant weather, and excellent mountain views. Monsoon (June-August) is rainy and slippery, while winter (Dec-Feb) can bring snow at higher points.

Technically possible, but not recommended due to heavy rain, muddy trails, landslides, and limited visibility.

The risk is lower than in Manaslu, but mild symptoms can occur above 3,000 m. Proper acclimatization, slow pacing, hydration, and monitoring your health are important.

No. ATMs and card facilities are only in Kathmandu. Bring enough Nepalese rupees for personal expenses like hot showers, Wi-Fi, snacks, charging, and tips.

Costs depend on guide/porter, permits, accommodation, meals, and transport. Typical packages range from $600–$1,200 per person for an 8–10 day itinerary.

Basic medical support is available in some villages, but serious emergencies require evacuation to Kathmandu. Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking is recommended for your safety.
