Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can relax and recover from your journey or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a popular tourist district filled with shops, cafés, and cultural attractions. In the evening, you’ll meet your trekking guide for a detailed briefing about the Upper Mustang Trek, including the itinerary, trekking permits, altitude awareness, and essential gear. After breakfast, begin a scenic drive from Kathmandu to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara via the Prithvi Highway. The route follows the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers, passing through lush green hills, terraced fields, charming villages, and cascading waterfalls. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the countryside and glimpses of the Himalayan foothills. Upon arriving in Pokhara, check into your hotel and spend the evening exploring the lively Lakeside area or relaxing by the peaceful Phewa Lake with views of the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peak. Begin your first day inside the restricted Upper Mustang region after completing the permit check at Kagbeni. The trail follows the eastern bank of the Kali Gandaki River through dramatic desert landscapes, colorful cliffs, ancient cave dwellings, and traditional Tibetan villages. Pass settlements such as Tangbe and Chhusang before crossing a suspension bridge and making a gradual climb to Chele. Throughout the day, enjoy spectacular views of Nilgiri Peak and the unique barren terrain that makes Upper Mustang unlike any other trekking destination in Nepal. Today’s trek is one of the most rewarding and adventurous sections of the Upper Mustang Trail. Climb steadily over Taklam La Pass (3,624 m) and Dajori La Pass (3,735 m), both decorated with colorful prayer flags and offering magnificent views of Tilicho Peak, Damodar Himal, and surrounding valleys. Descend through charming Tibetan settlements, juniper forests, and rugged canyons before reaching the peaceful village of Syangboche. Along the way, you’ll witness the region’s unique landscapes, ancient monasteries, and centuries-old traditions that have remained largely unchanged for generations.

Descend gradually into the ancient capital of the former Kingdom of Lo, a beautifully preserved medieval city surrounded by high walls. Descend gradually to Ghami, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Himalayan desert.
